Yes, yes it is. Especially when I get to not only hear a cuckoo calling but see one for the very first time. Spending the sunrise outside is always worth it.
Have a good weekend, everyone.
Two weeks into January, and so far the year is bumping along much like the old one did. Plenty of things to do, plenty of other things getting in the way and trying to do their best to make sure I don’t get things done, same old, same old.
No worries. This year I have decided I’m not going to make predictions, I’m not going to set any schedules, I will simply set out to achieve things and hope I manage to get them done eventually. I do have a list, but I’m keeping it private for now and will only talk about things that have actually been finished.
Which leads me to… AQUILA’S WAR (Wingborn book 5) IS DONE!
This was my NaNoWriMo project from last year that got derailed mid-November, and I wasn’t able to pick it up again until the start of this month. But after putting in an extra 36K words, it is done! WHOO! It needs a lot of work and there are a few characters and plot lines I might have accidentally forgotten, but that can be cleaned up later. For now it’s all done and the sixth and final Wingborn book is poking me with ideas, so I might just give in and write it next.
I have also finally gathered all the pieces together to puzzle out where the Dragonlands series is headed, which is also a big relief. Looking forward to sorting that one out.
Right now I’m trying to catch up with all the things that got dropped last year and putting other plans into place for future things this year. I’m also kicking around a few ideas of what I’ll tackle once Wingborn is done. I might take a break from the Overworld for a bit, but I might also stay put since there are a couple of stories trying to catch my attention. Lots of things to ponder.
In the meantime, I hope 2018 is treating you fairly thus far, and that your goals and plans – whatsoever they may be – bear the right kind of fruit for you.
With the Winter Solstice coming up tomorrow, I thought it time to wish you all health, happiness and good cheer at this festive time of year.
Whatever you’re celebrating this December, even if it’s just a chance to meet up with family or treat yourself to things you don’t normally eat, enjoy, my friends!
This year hasn’t been great for a lot of people, but it’s finally almost done. Woohoo!
So happy holidays and season’s greetings, and all those lovely things, from me and mine to you and yours.
See you in 2018!
*blows off cobwebs* Phew, been a while since I last posted here. Poor neglected Dreamwidth journal. I would vow to do better, but me and hopes, promises and deadlines aren't doing too well this year.
I'm not quite sure what it is about this year - or me - but every time I mention a deadline I seem to be tempting fate too far, so I get something else thrown at my head to make all chances of meeting said deadline impossible.
Which is a roundabout way of attempting to excuse myself for missing all my self-imposed deadlines this year. I would say that from now on I will hit each and every one, but I'm making no promises - in case they turn around and devour me whole.
Things have been so hectic around here this year that I basically haven't written anything in more months than I care to imagine. Which would be frightening, except I have been just too busy to have managed anything. I've written copious reviews, but I don't think they really count. I also cleaned out a fully packed attic, which is satisfying in many ways, but doesn't write the stories for me.
Next up on my writing schedule is the long neglected Burning Sky (or is it Sands?), which is Dragonlands #4. I left some characters in a bad way there, so I really do need to go and take care of them. After that, I would love to try NaNo again this year, probably with Wingborn #5 (whose title is spoilery for those who haven't read past book 1). Beyond that, a whole other series without dragons or miryhls in it keeps calling me with a siren song and I'd love to return and play with them. I also have Aekhs to work on and older books to tidy up for various reasons.
As always, lots to do, very little time to do it in. But in non-writing news I've been walking loads, have finally worked out a routine so I can yoga every day and I even have a new camera to play with. My dogs and I continue to get older, my cat remains cuddly and grumpy, family is awesome, and my good old British summer isn't playing very fair right now (see the photo, that's supposed to be July!). On the whole, though, I can't complain.
But enough of me, how are you lovely people doing?
