94,954 words down and the book (and series) is finished!
I can't believe that after all these years I've finally finished the series. I started the original Rift Riders back in 2003, sticking it up on Elfwood in three chapter bursts. It took three months and was something ridiculous like 150K words. But after I stalled somewhere in the middle of book 3 - because Mhysra was being miserable and Lyrai... I can't remember. It's possible everyone thought he was dead around then, thanks to Yullik stabbing him in the chest. Anyway, I lost interest and left it well alone. I didn't return to it until 2010 when I went back and wrote Wingborn, with more women in it and less super-speshul Mhysra moments.
It's been a slog at times, but it's done! DONE, I SAY! Well, apart from the novella that deals with some of the aftermath and the inkling of an idea I have percolating about some maybe descendants and stuff, but mostly, for this moment, right now, the Wingborn series is over. I am exhausted. Although that might have more to do with what I did with my celebratory morning off…
I hope your week has been going as well as mine.
Take care, my lovelies!

Date: 2018-04-13 10:18 am (UTC)I would love to send you some of my spring -- or at least extend it in your direction -- but it has vanished :( Maybe it's come to see you. I can't tell in all this mist...
